Subnetra Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Subnetra handles information when you use the Android app.

Summary

Subnetra is designed as an offline-first LAN diagnostics and troubleshooting app. We do not require an account. We do not sell personal information. We do not use advertising SDKs. We do not include third-party analytics or crash-reporting SDKs in this build.

Most data used by Subnetra stays on your device or is exchanged directly with devices and services that you choose to test.

Information We Process

Depending on which features you use, Subnetra may process the following categories of information:

• Wi-Fi and network details such as SSID, BSSID, local IP address, gateway IP, subnet mask, RSSI, transport type, and whether VPN is active.
• Local network discovery data such as IP addresses, MAC addresses, hostnames, vendor names, device type hints, and device availability on your LAN.
• Diagnostic and monitoring data such as ping results, traceroute hops, DNS probe results, MTU probe results, quick diagnosis findings, watchdog events, and generated network reports.
• App preferences and local history such as scan settings, theme selection, saved diagnosis history, and saved device history.
• User-entered targets such as hostnames, IP addresses, URLs, router details, SSH targets, or domains when you use related tools.

Android Permissions

Subnetra requests the following Android permissions:

• INTERNET: needed to reach network targets, run internet diagnostics, and use optional internet-based tools.
• ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE and ACCESS_WIFI_STATE: needed to read network and Wi-Fi connection state.
• CHANGE_WIFI_MULTICAST_STATE: needed for local discovery protocols such as mDNS and SSDP.
• ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION and NEARBY_WIFI_DEVICES: needed on Android to access Wi-Fi scan and nearby network information. In this build, these permissions are used to support Wi-Fi and LAN discovery features. They are not used to build advertising profiles.

How Data Is Used

Subnetra uses information only to provide the app’s network troubleshooting features, including:

• showing current Wi-Fi and device connectivity details;
• discovering devices on your local network;
• running ping, traceroute, DNS, MTU, throughput, port scan, uptime, and similar diagnostic tools;
• generating local network reports;
• storing recent history and settings on your device so the app can show prior results.

What Stays On Your Device

This build stores some information locally on your device using app storage, including:

• app settings;
• theme preference;
• device history observed on your LAN;
• quick diagnosis latest result and recent history;
• watchdog event history.

This information is stored locally for app functionality and is not automatically uploaded to us by the app.

Network Connections Made By The App

Subnetra communicates with destinations that are necessary for the features you choose to run.

Local network traffic

When you use discovery or LAN diagnostics, the app may communicate directly with:

• your router or gateway;
• devices on your local network;
• local DNS, mDNS, SSDP, ARP, TCP, ICMP, SSH, or Wake-on-LAN targets.

Public internet traffic

When you use internet-facing diagnostics, the app may communicate with public services, including:

• 1.1.1.1 and one.one.one.one for connectivity and DNS-related checks;
• 8.8.8.8 for DNS comparison checks;
• https://connectivitycheck.gstatic.com/generate_204 for captive portal detection;
• https://speed.cloudflare.com for optional speed test and latency measurements;
• https://rdap.org and certain registry RDAP endpoints for optional WHOIS or RDAP lookup features;
• any URL, host, IP address, or service that you manually enter into a tool inside the app.

These requests necessarily disclose your device’s network address and request metadata to the destination you contact, just like any direct network connection.

Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information.

We do not share data with advertising networks.

We do not use third-party analytics or crash-reporting SDKs in this build.

If you use a feature that contacts a third-party destination, data is shared only as required to complete that network request. For example, when you run a speed test, lookup, or connectivity probe, your device connects directly to the relevant service.

Data Retention

Data stored by the app remains on your device until you clear it in the app, clear app storage, or uninstall the app, subject to normal Android behavior.

Children

Subnetra is not directed to children under 13.

Security

We use reasonable efforts to limit data handling to what is necessary for the app’s functionality. However, no app, device, or network transmission is completely secure.

Your Choices

You can:

• decline permissions, although some features may not work correctly;
• avoid using tools that contact public internet services;
• clear app data from your device;
• uninstall the app at any time.

Changes To This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The updated version should include a new effective date.
