Sift (“we,” “us,” or “our”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, how we share it, how long we keep it, and the choices you have when using the Sift mobile app, website, and related services.

The information we collect depends on how you use Sift and which features are enabled. Some features may not be available to all users.
1. Information We Collect

- Authentication information, such as session tokens and refresh tokens.
- Preferences and personalization data, such as chosen topics, regions, language, followed sources, and saved stories or articles.

We may also collect information automatically from your device and browser when you use our services.

4. Automated Processing and AI Features
Sift uses automated systems, including self-hosted AI models, to process publicly available news article content. These systems help generate features such as story clustering, summaries, topic enrichment, claim extraction, search interpretation, and related news analysis.
Sift may use your searches, preferences, saved content, and interaction history to improve your personal app experience, such as ranking stories or remembering your settings.
We do not use your private account information, saved stories, personal preferences, or support messages to train public third-party AI models.
5. Advertising
Sift may display ads in the app. Advertising partners may collect or receive device information, advertising identifiers, approximate location, usage data, and interaction data to deliver, measure, prevent fraud, and improve ads.
Where required, we will request consent or provide choices for personalized advertising. You may also be able to limit ad personalization through your device or Google account settings.
6. How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal information.
We may share information with:
- Service providers that help us host, store, secure, monitor, or operate the service
- Email and notification providers
- Analytics, logging, and crash-reporting providers
- Advertising partners, if ads are enabled
- Infrastructure providers such as hosting, database, cache, and search providers

7. Data Retention

8. Account and Data Deletion
If you have a Sift account, you may request deletion of your account and associated personal data by emailing happy.dev.sol@gmail.com with the subject line “Delete my Sift account.”
We may ask you to verify ownership of the account before processing the request. After deletion, we may retain limited information where necessary for legal, security, fraud-prevention, accounting, or legitimate business purposes.
9. Your Choices
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate information
- Delete your personal information
- Object to or restrict certain processing
- Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent
- Request a copy of your data

10. Push Notifications
If you enable push notifications, we may collect and store a push token for your device so we can send notifications. You can disable push notifications in your device settings or in the app.

If you use our website, we may use cookies or similar technologies for authentication, preferences, security, analytics, advertising, and basic functionality.
12. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
13. Children’s Privacy

14. International Data Transfers
Your information may be processed in countries other than your own, including by service providers and infrastructure providers. These countries may have data protection laws that are different from those in your jurisdiction.
